The QVCC Foundation is please to offer the following scholarships for the 2014-2015 academic year.
ALTRUSA International of Northeastern Connecticut Scholarship ($1,300)
1. Applicant must be a female residing in northeastern Connecticut.
2. Must have a record of community service.
3. Must have financial need.
4. GPA: no restriction
ARCHAMBAULT-BEAUCHAMP Scholarship ($1,250)
Preference will be given to students studying in business or medical related fields.
RICHARD C. BERRY MEMORIAL Scholarship ($1,350)
1. Applicant must be a returning, transferring, or graduating student with at least 30 credits earned at QVCC.
2. Must be enrolled in a degree program at QVCC with the goal of a four-year degree in engineering or math.
3. Preference will be given to a student enrolled in the College of Technology.
JENS & TOMINA BRAATEN - SERGEANT OSCAR THOMPSON Memorial Scholarship (2/$500)
1. Must be a veteran who has served in Iraq or Afghanistan.
2. Applicant must provide proof of military service.
3. GPA: no restriction.
DAVID T. BRITLAND Memorial Scholarship ($500)
1. Awarded to a special needs student overcoming obstacles to attend college or a student worker in the Maintenance Department.
2. Must have financial need.
DAVID & NANCY BULL Scholarship ($450)
Applicant must be studying toward an Associate in Science Degree.
BURKE Memorial Scholarship ($1,000)
Preference will be given to students studying in the fields of health care or criminal justice.
RHODA L. & DAVID T. CHASE Scholarship & Education Fund Award 1 - Academic Achievement (3/$625)
1. Must have financial need.
2. Must currently be a full-time student or be an incoming student planning to enroll on a full-time basis.
RHODA L. & DAVID T. CHASE Scholarship & Education Fund Award - Motivation ($625)
1. Applicant must have attended QVCC for at least 2 semesters and have earned at least 12 credits.
2. Must be a recent high school graduate.
3. Must be highly motivated and must plan to attend on a full-time basis.
4. Must have financial need.
5. GPA: no restriction
The CITIZENS NATIONAL BANK Scholarships (11/$1,000)
1. Applicant must have completed at least 6 credits at QVCC and plan to register for 6 or more credits in both the upcoming fall and spring semesters.
2. Must have financial need.
3. Must reside in a town served by one of The Citizens National Bank branches. These townships are currently defined as: Brooklyn, Eastford, Hampton, Killingly, Pomfret, Putnam, Thompson and Woodstock.
The CITIZENS NATIONAL BANK Scholarship ($1,000)
1. Applicant must be a returning or graduating student with at least 30 credits earned at QVCC.
2. Must have financial need.
3. Must reside in a town served by one of The Citizens National Bank branches. These townships are currently defined as: Brooklyn, Eastford, Hampton, Killingly, Pomfret, Putnam, Thompson and Woodstock.
ELIZABETH CZEPIEL Scholarship ($500)
1. Preference will be given to applicants who, despite significant personal obstacles, are making gains in their pursuit of higher education.
2. GPA: no restriction
EXCHANGE CLUB OF NORTHEAST CONNECTICUT'S NORMAN CORRIVEAU Scholarship ($1,000)
1. Preference will be given to an individual who excels in community service.
2. Must be a resident of northeast Connecticut.
MICHAEL F. DAVIS Memorial Scholarship ($1,000)
Applicant must be working toward a degree in Technology Studies, with preference given to those in either Computer Aided Design or Construction Technology.
DAY KIMBALL HEALTHCARE Scholarship ($500)
Preference will be given to a student pursuing a career in healthcare.
RYAN S. DOYLE Memorial Scholarship (2/$1,150)
Applicant must be studying business or liberal arts and sciences with a goal of a career in sales.
MOUMOURIS DYKSTRA FAMILY Scholarship ($500)
1. New or continuing student with minimum GPA of 3.0
2. Full or part-time student
3. Financial Need
MARY ESPINOLA Memorial Scholarship ($250)
1. Must be a Connecticut resident with financial need.
2. Must be pursuing or planning to pursue a business program.
JOAN F. GOLRICK Memorial Scholarship ($500)
Preference will be given to a single parent with demonstrated financial need studying early childhood education.
BETTY & NEWELL HALE Scholarships (3/$1,000)
Applicant must have financial need.
W.H.G. HERKLOTS Scholarships (2/$1,250)
1. New or continuing student.
2. Minimum GPA of 2.5.
3. Full or part time student.
4. Financial need.
5. Preference will be given to a student making admirable academic gains in the field of liberal arts and sciences despite significant personal obstacles.
JEWETT CITY SAVINGS BANK Scholarship ($500)
Recipient must reside in a town served by Jewett City Savings Bank:
Brooklyn, Central Village, Dayville, Jewett City, Preston, or Voluntown.
JOHN KEENAN Memorial Scholarship ($500)
Standard criteria
KEITH JOHN KIPPER Memorial Scholarship ($1450)
1. Preference will be given to adults returning to school (not straight out of high school).
2. Must have financial need.
3. Must be enrolled in the human services degree program.
4. Applicant may be a continuing or graduating student.
GEORGE & DEMETER LAKATZIS Scholarship ($500)
1. Applicant must be a resident of Killingly, CT.
2. Must be a graduate of either Ellis Tech or Killingly High School.
MARIA ANGELOS & GEORGE LAKATZIS Scholarship ($500)
Applicants must be pursuing a degree in early childhood education.
LiR Scholarship (2/$650)
1. Must be a resident of northeastern Connecticut.
2. Student must take majority of his/her courses at the Danielson campus.
LIBERTY BANK Scholarships (3/$2,000)
1. Student must be a recent graduate of one of the following high schools: E.O. Smith, Windham or Windham Technical.
2. Student must have financial need.
3. This is a two year scholarship ($1,000 per year). It is renewable as long as student meets eligibility requirements and continues to take classes at QVCC.
MAY & FRANK MESSINGER Memorial Scholarship ($600)
1. Must be a single parent.
2. Must have completed 12 credits at QVCC.
EMIL & ALICE MILLER Memorial Scholarship ($400)
1. Must be an area high school graduate entering QVCC.
2. Must have financial need.
ROBERT E. & SYLVIA M. MILLER Scholarship ($700)
Preference will be given to students who have outstanding involvement in community service.
VIRGINIA ATSALES MOUMOURIS Memorial Scholarship ($500)
Preference will be given to an adult female.
NORTHEASTERN CONNECTICUT ARTS COUNCIL Scholarships ($1,000)
1. Must be enrolled in the fine arts program.
2. Must have completed at least one semester at QVCC.
3. Must be recommended by a faculty member with first hand knowledge of his/her artistic talent and promise.
4. GPA: no restriction
NORTHEASTERN CONNECTICUT CHAMBER OF COMMERCE
Scholarship (3/$500)
Applicant must be a resident of one of the towns served by the Chamber: Brooklyn, Canterbury, Eastford, Killingly, Plainfield, Pomfret, Putnam, Sterling, Thompson or Woodstock.
ALICE & LIONEL ROMNEY Memorial Scholarship ($500)
1. Must have financial need.
2. Cannot be eligible for Federal or State financial aid.
3. Preference will be given to students in one of the following categories: non-native English speakers and native English speakers from developing countries.
4. GPA: no restriction
ROOKE-NORMAN WOMEN'S Scholarship (3/$250)
1. Must be a continuing female student (not graduating in the semester of the award)
2. No minimum GPA
ROTARACT MAL SCHUMANN Memorial Scholarship (2/$500)
1. Must have financial need.
2. Must be studying business administration or management.
KATHLEEN A. RUSSELL Memorial Scholarship ($250)
Preference will be given to female applicants who are enrolled in any medical degree or medical certificate program at QVCC.
SAVINGS INSTITUTE Scholarship (2/$500)
Preference will be given to students studying business.
NORMA & DAVID SENGER FAMILY Scholarship (2/$800)
Preference will be given to students with an immediate family member serving in the military.
A.L. SIMONDS Memorial Scholarships (5/$1,100)
Preference will be given to Linemaster Switch Corporation employees and their families.
SPIROL INTERNATIONAL CORPORATION Scholarships (2/$1,500)
1. Preference will be given to students enrolled in the A.S. degree in technology studies (not plastics).
2. Student must be new or returning to QVCC.
WILLIAM & DOROTHY ST.ONGE Memorial Scholarship (2/$500)
1. Must be a full-time student.
2. Must have earned at least 27 credits at QVCC.
3. Must have been on the dean's list for spring or fall 2013.
THOMPSON LIONS CLUB Scholarship ($500)
Student must be a Thompson resident.
STEVEN & MARJOLAINE TOWNSEND ART Scholarships(7/$1,500)
1. Preference will be given to students studying fine arts.
2. Must be enrolled for a minimum of two courses for the following semester at QVCC.
3. Must submit three pieces of art to a panel of professional artists for judging.
STEVEN & MARJOLAINE TOWNSEND BUSINESS Scholarships(8/$1,500)
1. Preference will be given to students studying business or accounting.
2. Must be enrolled for a minimum of two courses for the following semester at QVCC.
STEVEN & MARJOLAINE TOWNSEND LIBERAL ARTS & SCIENCES Scholarships (7/$1,500)
1. Preference will be given to students studying liberal arts and sciences.
2. Must be enrolled for a minimum of two courses for the following semester at QVCC.
STEVEN & MARJOLAINE TOWNSEND UNITED STATES VETERANS SCHOLARSHIP (3/$1,500)
1. Preference is given to a U.S. Veteran
2. Must be enrolled for a minimum of two courses for the following semester at QVCC.
UNITED NATURAL FOODS Scholarships (2/$1,250)
1. Must be either a full-time student, or, if part-time, must be taking a minimum of 6 credits.
2. Must have financial need.
3. Must be enrolled in a degree program.
4. Must provide evidence of community involvement through letters, certificates, etc.
5. If applicant is a continuing student, he/she must have a minimum GPA of 3.2.
6. Preference will be given to United Natural Foods, Inc. employees and members of their immediate families.
